This fella tried to invade my castle last night and paid the price.

My wife opened the garage door to see Scooby standing over the erstwhile dragon (she thinks Scooby brought it in to play with). She slammed the door and yelled for me to vanquish the beast. It must have inserted its head and gotten its neck crushed by the closing door.

My girls were irked at me for thinking it was cool and snapping pics before removing the carcass.

It’s a snakey year. I’ve seen six live so far, and a few more dead. Last year I saw maybe one live one. That one was too many.

This one freaked my daughter out because it wasn’t the usual friendly looking green garter snek. It looked bigger and more malevolent.

I’ve seen two Garters, two Indigos, a Cottonmouth, and a Copperhead. The first four were fine, the last two were not. I killed the Copperhead.

At first it looked like a diamond back to me but upon further review the head is not the right shape, it could also be a gopher snake. Gopher snakes are incredibly common and perfectly harmless to animals larger than gophers.

There’s a nest of garter snakes under/around our house. Many, many sneks.
